At the end of August 2013, Japanese Anonymous declared to launch #OpLeakageJp to protest the leak of contaminated water from the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant and the response by the TEPCO and Japanese government. @4N0N_Lib3rt4 or Lib came up with the name of this operation and created the official Twitter account, #OpLeakageJp, on August 28.

The operation, which will start on October 1, aims to protest the TEPCO which does not take an appropriate action to stop the leak of radiation-contaminated water and governmental organizations that cover up the truth. The hacktivist group hopes to urge the government and TEPCO to end the incident and release relevant information as soon as possible. Anonymous plans to explain about the gory details of radiation and advertise or call for protests against the TEPCO and Japan Atomic Energy Commission.

At first, #OpLeakageJp website said that they would allow illegal operations if individuals take their own responsibility although they want to make the overall campaign legal. However, this statement faced online criticism through twitter feeds. Finally on September 4, the hacktivist group tweeted to change the scope of the campaign to make it completely legal.

#OpLeakageJp's online postings and twitter feeds are basically only in Japanese. Non-Japanese Anonymous does not seem to have responded yet. #OpLeakageJp is asking for help to translate their messages into foreign languages including English.
